“Wait for the Light” is an original folk life play set during the Great Depression. The story begins in 1929 at the end of the “Roaring 20s” during a time when things were going well for everyone. Here in the South, business was booming. People seemed to have everything they needed and then some. Everyone was happy and content until October. It didn’t happen immediately. It took some time for the economic shockwave to hit across the country. It came with the loss of jobs. It came with the failure of banks. The only relief came with the election of a new President who offered a New Deal and the promise of better days ahead. Regardless of the hardships, the American resilience shown through and the proverbial “light” was finally seen.
Join the cast of “Wait for the Light” as they bring history to life through song, humor, and drama. Show dates are October 5, 6, 9, and 11. Evening shows begin at 7 pm and the Sunday matinee begins at 2pm. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students.
